Xiao Zhang

I am a finance PhD candidate at the University of Maryland.

I am on the 2025-2026 job market

My major advisors are Albert "Pete" Kyle (chair), Steve Heston, Russ Wermers, and Zhi Da (Notre Dame).

My research interests are asset pricing, asset management, and market microstructure.

My two working papers have been presented at major finance conferences (AFA, SFS Calvacade AP, Paris December, CICF, EFA) and downloaded over 4700 times on SSRN. My research has been featured in Bloomberg's Money Stuff column and invited for presentation by industry companies (TwinBeech Capital and Wolfe Research).

Before my PhD, I worked as a quantitative equity analyst at a hedge fund. This experience gave me a unique perspective on institutional investors in the financial markets.
